Meet the breeder

I'm Arianna B., the breeder behind Bear State Goldens located in Sacramento, CA. We are a small home based breeding program that focuses on raising sound, healthy, happy, beautiful Golden Retrievers. We are not a kennel, our puppies are raised underfoot & our adult dogs live inside the comfort of our home being treated as family pets. Our breedings are limited to 0-3 litters per year. Our puppies are raised on Premium food and we use puppy raising programs to aid in the development of our puppies. We breed both European & American type Golden Retrievers. We have our puppies temperament tested, desensitized and socialized. We test Hips, Elbows, Eyes, Heart & genetics to CHIC standards. Our Goldens enjoy Showing, FastCAT, Dock Diving, Tricks, Training, Swimming, Snuggling & of course Retrieving. We work to title our dogs to prove drive, temperament, trainability and breed standard. We currently exhibit our dogs at UKC & International Dog Shows where they are judged by AKC, UKC & International judges. We have plans to title in other venues & more sports soon. We offer life-time breeder support & we enjoy staying connected with our puppy owners. All health testing is readily provided on each dog’s profile for view. We provide a health guarantee & accept our puppies back at any point in their lives if their owner is ever unwilling or unable to care for them. ****Please read: Golden Retrievers are a highly active sporting breed bred to retrieve game. They are a very mouthy breed that enjoys to carry various items around. They do not begin to mature until at least 2 years of age. Our contract requires a delayed spay/neuter for the health & development of our puppies. Please do your research on this breed and their needs to see if they’re a good fit for your lifestyle prior to reaching out.

Q. & A. with Arianna

  • Why did you start breeding?

My love for the breed comes from when I first met a Golden around 9 years old, from that point on I was in love. I watched AKC dog shows on TV growing up and always gravitated to the Golden Retriever due to their friendly smiles, happy go lucky temperament and beautiful lustrous Golden coats. From an early age.. I read many books about dog breeds & their maintenance, trained our family dogs, volunteered at a local animal shelter and fostered stray kittens. My partner & I both were raised around dog breeders, helped socialize & handle puppies growing up. Fast forward to our adult years... we obtained our first Golden in 2017 and we continue to expand our knowledge on the breed. Since then.. we've had several Goldens & decided to start our own breeding program after years of extensive research, passion, love for the breed & with dedication to always better our program.
  • What makes your program special?

Our puppies are loved immensely and we do our absolute best to ensure that they are off to a great start before heading to their new homes. We pour our heart into each and every one of our puppies. When we do have a litter we work almost 24/7 with our puppies and our adult dogs to ensure that they are well cared for. We do get attached to our puppies from every litter and it’s always bittersweet when they leave us. However seeing their new families love them in the way that we do is very rewarding for us. When a family obtains a puppy from us they become extended family through our Bear State Goldens Family and are invited to any future puppy play dates/reunions(typically announced on Instagram). We provide great breeder support to our puppy owners. We are always just a text message or email away and we're happy to help as best as we can after our puppies leave to their new homes. We board our puppies often, well into their adult years. We always accept our puppies back into our home if for any reason their owner may be unable or unwilling to care for them. We really appreciate when a client has done their homework into the breed, training & puppy raising prior to reaching out.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include dark golden, golden, and light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

We’ve had 5 golden retrievers over the years. We’re very experienced at finding dependable breeders. Arianna/Bear State Goldens was recommended to us by a breeder after we missed out on her litter. What a great experience. Arianna is so professional, knowledgeable, responsible and accommodating. She gave us so much great information and still contacts us after taking our puppy home. Thanks Arianna

Really happy with Bear State Goldens. The weekly pupdates, temperament test results, and pictures were so lovely. My pup is the most confident, happy puppy I’ve ever met and she’s already such a loved member of my family.
