Meet the breeder

I'm Robin H., the breeder behind Bear’s Bassets located in Kingsport, TN. Our mission is to raise pups that are set to become the best companions. Our program is focused on producing puppies that are healthy, well-structured, and have outstanding temperaments. We have high expectations for our puppies and strive to place each one in an enriching and loving home!

Q. & A. with Robin

  • Why did you start breeding?

My husband grew up with Basset hounds and when we got married he begged to get another one. I fell in love with the breed after getting our first boy. We discussed breeding in the future and chose to leave that option open. 2 years later we introduced a female to our family. Both of them were blessed by the vet as healthy for breeding, so here we are!!!
  • What makes your program special?

We offer high quality purebred basset hounds for a reasonable price. These are great pets or hunting partners. We do not participate in show dog breeding (AKC), but provide full health and breed DNA testing.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include red and white, black brown and white, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

We are so incredibly happy with our experience working with Robin at Bear’s Bassets. She was so easy to work with and very accommodating! We got picture updates at least weekly and she was also willing to send pictures anytime we asked! Our puppy, Bandit, has the best demeanor and we can certainly tell that he was loved just like they were keeping him! I highly recommend getting your next basset love bug from Bear’s Bassets!

Communication was absolutely perfect! They even opened their home to let us meet our new puppy before making final payment! We got to meet mom and dad of our sweet puppy as well. We are extremely happy with Bear's Bassets and already thinking of adding another when the time comes!

The breeder was great to work with, quick to respond, and flexible with the pickup day and time. The environment that the pups were kept in was very clean and with their family. We are loving our sweet girl so much. She is mild mannered. She plays well with our other dog and our children. She sleeps well, and seems to be learning her name and basic commands very quickly.

Communication was seamless with Bear’s Bassets. Whenever I had a question, they were always quick to respond. As a first-time owner, that was greatly appreciated.
