Meet the breeder

I'm Cheryl R., the breeder behind Beidelyn Swedish Vallhunds located in Lake City, FL. I am a preservation breeder, an AKC Breeder of Merit, and a member of the AKC Bred with HEART program. All of my breeding dogs have had the recommended health tests done. Our puppies have gone through Early Neurologic Stimulation from 3-16 days and the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test at 49 days old.

Q. & A. with Cheryl

  • Why did you start breeding?

I began breeding German Shepherd Dogs in the '80s, met Vallhunds through a shepherd breeder friend and from there it's history. My first Vallhund puppies came from some of the first dogs imported to the USA from the well known Starvon Kennel in England. I became friends with Ada West (Starvon) who came here to stay with us a few times and mentor me. I also traveled to England to attend Crufts (the largest dog show in the world) to meet other Vallhund breeders and learn more about the breed.
  • What makes your program special?

Through careful selection of breeding dogs and extensive health testing, my dogs have excelled in the conformation ring, performance events and most importantly, as much loved pets. My goal is to produce healthy dogs with great temperaments, working drives, and conformation that are exemplary representations of the breed. I do not breed my dogs unless they are fully healthy and genetically tested. I am dedicated to always having responsible policies when it comes to breeding, socializing, and training my pups. I can provide extensive knowledge and guidance for any family looking to bring home one of these wonderful dogs. I love what I do and truly want the very best for my puppies and their forever families.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include red and gray. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
