Meet the breeder

I'm Jacqueline H., the breeder behind Bella Dulce located in Hillsboro, VA. We have been involved with Havanese and breeding and showing sound and healthy dogs and well loved pets since 2004. We were blessed Žofie, our first Pyreneean mastiff from Los Hafanos in 2023. We will be forever grateful for our precious girl. We live on a farm in Virginia where we have a small flock of chickens, horses, and Valais Blacknose sheep. We had two Akbash fulfilling the livestock guardian dog (LGD) role. When one passed away, we found ourselves in search of another dog. We took the opportunity to research breeds that would be a better fit on the farm, more welcoming of visitors, calm, and very tolerant of our Havanese. We stumbled upon the Pyrenean mastiff as a breed that checked all of our wishes for an LGD. In the process, we met many wonderful people that have become friends during the journey, have answered countless questions, and provided generous support. We traveled to Czechia in 2023. It was a wonderful experience filled with beautiful memories. We had high hopes for Žofie to be a wonderful companion for our family to include our Havanese, participate in the show ring, and mature into a wonderful livestock guardian for our sheep. Žofie was the beginning of our wonderful journey with Pyrenean mastiffs. Zofie was an absolute delight from the very beginning! She was love at first sight for everyone in the family, and she captured our heart instantly. Žofie has turned out to be confident, sweet and loving, friendly with visitors, gentle with our Havanese, tolerant of the small dogs taking her bones and toys, loving with any animal, watchful of us when we are outside, playful with our Doberman and Standard poodle, and calm which is a bonus for her role as a livestock guardian. She is full of life, vigor, and sweetness with everyone she meets and anything she does. Žofie has matured into a wonderful guardian of our Valais Blacknose sheep and is a complete joy for us. We plan to complete her AKC Award of Merit in 2026. Žofie will be turning 3 years old in January 2026. We have dreamt of this day for years. We are overjoyed to share that Žofie (Delta Los Hafanos) and Magnus ( UKC Ch Ander de Estrella Polar) welcomed five beautiful puppies on November 14, 2025. We will enjoy every minute with this special litter of puppies.
