I'm JoAnn B., the breeder behind Bellewynd Standard Poodles located in Julian, NC. I'm a responsible, in-home program. The quality of my puppies reflects the conscious decisions I make throughout every part of the breeding process. They are excellent representations of the breed! I am careful to always maintain ethical breeding practices - which includes proper health testing, intentional breeding for specific traits, and raising my puppies with proper socialization. It has been such a fulfilling journey!
Q. & A. with JoAnn
Why did you start breeding?
My family bred Shetland Sheepdogs when I was growing up & I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of a small breeding program. I had Shelties until I got my current Standard Poodle who I trained as my service dog for my mobility problems due to Rheumatoid Arthritis. I have remained interested in breeding but waited until my retirement years to resume breeding .
What makes your program special?
My husband & I are retired so our breeding program is now our full time “job”. We are both avid dog lovers & now have the time to devote to breeding . Our breeding female is also my service dog who I trained myself.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
