I'm Johnny W., the breeder behind Big Bay Kennels LLC located in Tabor City, NC. We strive to produce quality puppies that are structurally sound, healthy, intuitive, and have wonderful temperaments. As breeders, we feel a sense of responsibility to prioritize the overall health and temperament of each of our puppies and to ensure that they are loved and well cared for before joining their forever homes.

Why did you start breeding?
My wife and I met some Springers during search and rescues, and I started working with the breed through duck hunting. We fell in love with these wonderful dogs and decided to share our love of Springers through responsible breeding.What makes your program special?
We obtained our USDA class A breeder license about 4 years ago. We are also a licensed pet transporter! We researched all of our potential breeding dogs for temperament and genetic health and we stop breeding our females at age 5. Our vet does all our vet care (tail docks, dewclaws, etc.). On-site, we provide our puppies with dewormer and flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives. We care about the work we do and commit to answering texts and phone calls from potential buyers. We have high expectations for our puppies and make sure to place each one in an enriching and loving home that will match their temperament and personality. We love what we do and truly want the very best for our puppies and their forever families.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Price
“Our males are priced $100.00 lower than our females. Our Europeans (roans) are the higher-priced pups. We also have some champion bloodlines with 48 champions in the pedigree; those are the most expensive. The deposit will come off the price of the pup!”

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

We absolutely love our girl! She just turned one, and has been the perfect addition to our family. She is goofy, fun loving, and VERY sweet with little children and cats (she even sleeps right next to our cat Luna every night). My favorite thing about her: she's down for a six-mile hike or a cuddle/movie day... she can really do it all, as long as she's with her humans!
