I'm Jonnae S., the breeder behind Big Sky Acres located in Chino Valley, AZ. Our dogs are livestock guardian dogs being bred to focus for traits well suited for small acreages and hobby farms. Our dogs are being raised with LOVE, to guard small acreages as partners with their families. Our dogs all have great guarding instincts. In addition, we are focusing on specific traits that are necessary for small acreages: friendliness towards people, intelligent barking, not prone to wander.
Q. & A. with Jonnae
Why did you start breeding?
We became breeders when we fell in love with our Colorado Mountain Dogs. There is a need for a well-bred guardian dog on family farms. On small acreages, dogs are part of the family and work alongside as partners.
What makes your program special?
We work with the breed founder, as well as other breeders, to ensure that we are breeding forward healthy dogs with the desired traits of the Colorado Mountain Dog. Our dogs are raised and loved by our whole family and are exposed daily to ducks, kittens, goats, and other dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include tan, white, and badger. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
