Meet the breeder

I'm Theresa P., the breeder behind Bigfoot Goldens AKC registered - Dark Red Goldens located in Aumsville, OR. It’s important to us that we continue to improve our program and share our knowledge with our buyer families. We want to better the breed through thorough health testing and selective breeding decisions. We are members of the Golden Retriever Club of America and also Breeders of Heart with the AKC.

Q. & A. with Theresa

  • Why did you start breeding?

We got into breeding because we love this breed and want to help protect the quality of the breed and give others the opportunity of owning their very own healthy golden. We feed our dogs Purina pro plan which is a healthy blend recommended by the AKC. We also in addition to health testing and OFA testing conduct Brucellosis test with the parents before breeding and do regular exams.
  • What makes your program special?

We love our dogs and we have worked hard to purchase quality breeders (Luna and Stella) to breed for future families. Our girls are health tested and well loved, just completed our annual OFA eye certification with Dr. Maxwell. Our puppies will have health examinations, first vaccinations, dew claws removed, AKC limited registered, be chipped and loved even after they go to their furever homes.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are dark golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

In my opinion Big Foot Goldens sets the gold standard for breeders, look no further. Let's face it, finding an ethical, truly dedicated breeder can feel overwhelming, but from the moment I connected with Theresa, I knew I was in the best hands possible. Bringing home my pup, has been extraordinary from start to finish. and the entire experience leading up to gotcha day was nothing short of exceptional. Exceptional care, elite Standards: 10/10 experience with Big Foot Goldens If you are looking for a Golden Retriever breeder who sets the bar impossibly high, Theresa is it. I couldn’t be happier with my pup, Samantha, she is healthy and has quickly adapted to her new home. What sets Theresa apart though, is her meticulous attention to detail. She provides thorough genetic testing to ensure optimal puppy health, provides near-daily photo updates throughout the litter’s early weeks, and handles all the essential groundwork: Health & paperwork, microchipping, AKC registration, and early vaccinations were all meticulously handled. Theresa goes above and beyond above and beyond. On pickup day, she sent me home completely prepared, thorough medical records, food, treats, pee pads, and starter essentials were all ready to go. Theresa doesn’t just breed dogs; she raises them with genuine love and top-tier professionalism. If you’re looking for your next family member, this is the breeder you want. Samantha is everything I wanted dreamed of and more. Theresa is the exact breeder you want in your corner. I cannot recommend Big Foot Goldens highly enough!

Theresa was a delight to work with, from the very start it was incredibly clear that she cares deeply for the animals under her care, and it is obvious that all the dogs raised at Bigfoot goldens are exceptionally well cared for. She is very thoughtful, does her research, and sets you up for success with an amazing take-home package and all the information you could possibly need to get started with your pup. Theresa is incredibly generous to offer continued support if you have any questions and always answers messages promptly. The puppies themselves are impressively well socialized, comfortable with touch, loud noises, and other stimulus that would otherwise unnerve many fully established adult dogs, which was also noted by the vet at our first appointment. Our little boy Whiskey is wonderfully friendly, playful, super healthy, crate trained, well on his way to being fully potty trained, and was ready to thrive in our home before he even began the journey with us. While he was a little smaller and mellower than many of his siblings, his personality is rapidly emerging, his confidence is blooming, and we are overjoyed to be fortunate enough to have adopted him. You could not ask for more from a breeder; these puppies are exceptional, and it has been a fantastic experience bringing a new member of the family into our home, I cannot recommend Theresa and her dogs enough.

I feel incredibly lucky to have found Theresa at Bigfoot Goldens. I went into this process not knowing much about breeding, and I learned so much from her along the way. She is responsive, knowledgeable, flexible, encouraging, and genuinely kind—exactly the kind of person you hope to work with when making such an important decision. It’s also very clear how much care and intention she puts into raising her puppies. The amount of work that goes into early socialization and creating a nurturing environment really shows. These puppies are truly a dream—calm, well-adjusted, sweet, and deeply loving. I feel so grateful for everything Theresa does to give these puppies the best possible start in life—and deeply grateful for the new creature in my life. I couldn’t recommend her more highly.

It was our fist time selecting and working with a dog breeder. We had lost our golden retriever, Oliver, the prior year in October, but knew that if we were to get another dog, it would most definitely be another golden retriever because of their gentle, playful and well-mannered behavior. Another reason why we chose to go the breeder way, was because our Oliver had joint issues throughout his life. We cannot say enough good things about Theresa – Bigfoot Goldens. She earned our trust early on by being transparent, knowledgeable and professional throughout the process. We so much appreciated the updates via texts, Facebook postings, lengthy informational and resourceful emails and long chats over the phone. This communication also allowed us to know a bit more about each other. We share the same passion for “Football” aka “soccer.” Theresa played when the sport was not as popular and with little to no resources, a true soccer pioneer! We made the long drive from California up north to Oregon and arrived early evening. As soon as we visited the Oregon location to meet the puppies and also meet both Theresa and her husband in person, we knew then we had made the right decision in selecting Bigfoot Goldens. Theresa is a trustworthy breeder who welcomes transparency by always answering questions in detail. She does all the proper AKC, health, testing, pedigree paperwork, including first round of shots and microchip before puppy delivery to the new families. Theresa loves what she does and it shows in how she breeds and raises her dogs. She socializes the pups early on and provides them with a healthy home environment nested in beautiful Oregon with lots of outdoor time and exposure to nature. We know we will continue to stay in touch through texts or phone chats and through the Bigfoot Goldens Facebook community.

Theresa has been phenomenal throughout our adoption journey. We are incredibly fortunate to have chosen Bigfoot Goldens to adopt our puppy from. When we inquired about her puppies, she promptly arranged a FaceTime visit. This was a fantastic opportunity to get to know her, ask questions, assess their living conditions, and ensure she felt comfortable placing one of her puppies with us. Theresa consistently sent us pictures, videos, and updates at least once a week. We were thrilled to meet the puppies in person and choose our own. It was considerate of her to take them to get their first set of vaccines before they went home, making the process easier for both the puppies and their families. Her love for her puppies was evident, especially when it was time to say goodbye. We still hear from her occasionally, reminding us that she’s always there for us. Theresa’s caring nature and extensive knowledge about golden retrievers make her an exceptional breeder. I would highly recommend getting your golden retriever through her.

My family had been thinking about getting a golden retriever for almost a year when one day we decided to go for it. We found Theresa online with her beautiful golden puppies and immediately knew which one we wanted. We were able to meet almost right away with our puppy at Bigfoot Goldens along with other families and had an amazing day doing so. Theresa and her husband are absolutely charming and great dog owners. We are so very impressed with the care taken of these beautiful little puppy lives and absolutely love our new little girl Michelle. She is now 13 weeks old. Since bringing her home 3 weeks ago, she has very quickly learned to go potty outside, sit, play fetch and drop the ball. She is so eager to please us and always looking for a good girl. She has settled in so easily and it genuinely feels like she was always meant to be with us. I can't thank Theresa enough for making it such a smooth process for us. So professional and kind. Even going the extra mile to set up a surprise for my little girl. It was so appreciated. We definitely see another golden retriever in our future.
