Meet the breeder

I'm Theresa P., the breeder behind Bigfoot Goldens - AKC Registered Dark Red located in Aumsville, OR. It’s important to us that we continue to improve our program and share our knowledge with our buyer families. We want to better the breed through thorough health testing and selective breeding decisions. We are members of the Golden Retriever Club of America and also Breeders of Merit with the AKC.

Q. & A. with Theresa

  • Why did you start breeding?

We got into breeding because we love this breed and want to help protect the quality of the breed and give others the opportunity of owning their very own healthy golden. We feed our dogs Purina pro plan which is a healthy blend recommended by the AKC. We also in addition to health testing and OFA testing conduct Brucellosis test with the parents before breeding and do regular exams.
  • What makes your program special?

We love our dogs and we have worked hard to purchase quality breeders (Luna and Stella) to breed for future families. Our girls are health tested and well loved, just completed our annual OFA eye certification with Dr. Maxwell. Our puppies will have health examinations, first vaccinations, dew claws removed, AKC limited registered, be chipped and loved even after they go to their furever homes.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are dark golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

My family had been thinking about getting a golden retriever for almost a year when one day we decided to go for it. We found Theresa online with her beautiful golden puppies and immediately knew which one we wanted. We were able to meet almost right away with our puppy at Bigfoot Goldens along with other families and had an amazing day doing so. Theresa and her husband are absolutely charming and great dog owners. We are so very impressed with the care taken of these beautiful little puppy lives and absolutely love our new little girl Michelle. She is now 13 weeks old. Since bringing her home 3 weeks ago, she has very quickly learned to go potty outside, sit, play fetch and drop the ball. She is so eager to please us and always looking for a good girl. She has settled in so easily and it genuinely feels like she was always meant to be with us. I can't thank Theresa enough for making it such a smooth process for us. So professional and kind. Even going the extra mile to set up a surprise for my little girl. It was so appreciated. We definitely see another golden retriever in our future.

We had such a wonderful experience with Theresa of Bigfoot Goldens. She raises beautiful dogs in a clean, safe, and loving environment, and it was clear from the beginning how much care goes into every puppy. We selected our sweet boy (Nelson) from Ransome and Luna’s litter, and from day one Theresa provided incredible support and all the resources we needed to feel prepared. She kept us updated with frequent pictures and videos, which made the wait so exciting. When it came time to choose Nelson, she let us spend almost two hours meeting and bonding with him before making our decision—never rushing us and answering all of our questions. Theresa even went above and beyond by keeping Nelson a little longer for us as we were traveling internationally on his original pickup date. During that extra time, she thoughtfully started him on crate training since she knew it was one of our goals, which made the transition home so much smoother. We are beyond grateful for the care, patience, and dedication Theresa showed throughout this process. Nelson is such a happy, healthy, and well-adjusted puppy, and it’s all thanks to the amazing start he got with her. He had a perfect first visit to the vet, extremely healthy! We couldn’t recommend Bigfoot Goldens more highly!

I had an absolutely amazing experience working with Bigfoot Goldens! From the very first conversation, they were warm, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. They took the time to answer all of my questions, sent frequent updates, and provided pictures and videos so I could watch my puppy grow before bringing her home. What really stood out was how much love and care Bigfoot Goldens puts into raising their puppies. It’s clear that the dogs are socialized, healthy, and well-adjusted from day one. When I picked her up, they provided a thorough starter kit, detailed health records, and clear guidance to help with the transition. Now that she is home, I can honestly say she is happy, healthy, and has the sweetest temperament — exactly as promised. Even after the adoption, Bigfoot Goldens has stayed in touch, checking in and offering helpful advice whenever I’ve had a question. If you’re looking for a responsible, caring, and trustworthy breeder, I wholeheartedly recommend Bigfoot Goldens. They made the entire process not only smooth but truly joyful.
