I'm Pamela B., the breeder behind Bilderbear Shar-Pei located in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. I am Pamela Bilderback. I live in is Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, with my husband and my son. I have taught school for 35 years starting in Houston, TX before Wisconsin. I have owned Shar-Pei since the early ‘90. We live on a small hobby farm where we also have egg and meat chickens.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    With the purchase of my third puppy, came a two pup back deal. By that time, I had moved back to Wisconsin. The person I bought my pup from found a sire, and my girl was bred. That started my breeding program with the goal of improving health, conformation, and temperament within my available pups.

  • What makes your program special?

    Since experiencing amyloid in my first, I recognized the need to improve the health of the wonderful Shar-Pei breed. When purchasing my dogs, I studied the pedigrees and health of each making sure that any breeding would produce very healthy puppies. Also, the moment from birth they begin their socialization as my family hold and snuggles with them. They, too, are introduced to the outdoors.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include five point red dilute, blue sable, white, red fawn, fawn, chocolate dilute, black sable, and apricot dilute. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Vet Wellness Exam

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Shar-Pei Autoinflammatory Disease, DNA Profile, DNA Disease Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
