I'm Jenny D., the breeder behind Birchwood Goldens located in Big Lake, AK. Hello! We are Pat & Jenny Daniels, a small family-oriented breeder located in beautiful Big Lake, Alaska, which is located in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley in Southcentral Alaska. We have dedicated ourselves to producing outstanding quality health tested Golden Retrievers that are well socialized and will provide a lifetime of companionship to their new families. A little more about us ... We moved to Alaska from Reno, Nevada in 2009. The beauty of this place is unsurpassed like nothing you've ever seen. We love the outdoors whether that be camping, boating, hiking, horseback riding, gardening, fishing, hunting, snowmaching (Pat's raced the infamous 2000 mile Iron Dog race twice!) and of course swimming the dogs! As with every litter we are always increasing our knowledge for the betterment of the breed and to produce quality puppies, I also am constantly striving to take on new challenges and learn new stuff to help better our own dogs lives.I am currently working on getting certified by Dogs Naturally University in Raw Dog Food Nutrition, Pet Food Nutrition and Acute Canine Herbalism in order to better my knowledge and help others in the process as well.

In the event Client wishes to cancel their reservation on said puppy, Breeder will apply the deposit paid towards a future litter for up to 1 year from the date deposit was placed, after that deposit is forfeited. Breeder does not guarantee that the future litter will be with the exact same Bitch and Stud from this breeding. Once cancellation of reservation is confirmed, between Breeder and Client, the Breeder is then free to offer this puppy reservation to other Clients on the waiting list. Should Client place a deposit on a current/upcoming litter prior to puppies being born or their deposit rolls forward from a current litter to a future litter and that future litter doesn’t produce the puppy they are contracted for (male/female) then that would be the ONLY exception to our non-refundable deposit clause and deposit will be returned to them if Client so chooses."

About Faith
Faith is out of our Hope x Deshka final litter in 2020 and God made her just special for us as she was born a singleton. Hope started going into labor and progressed quickly from stage 1 right into stage 2 and in 30 minutes from start to finish, out she came in to this world a strong little spitfire, with in minutes of being born she was moving around and searching for the milk bar and immediately latched! We've never had any puppies "come alive" that fast and start searching for mama - it was very impressive! Raising a singleton was a new experience for us, as we were the ones from birth that had to be her littermates and give her all of the same experiences as best as we could as she would have had with littermates. The result ended up being a super smart little pup, fiercely independent but a giant lover too. Of course she was born during the era of Covid, and unfortunately she did get the short end of the stick a little on the socialization period, so she does end up approaching things with caution but once she's reassured that it's ok she's one brave little girl. She's a spitting image of her mama, loves her family and protects them just the same. She's a darker golden/red color, beautiful silky soft coat and has the most expressive eyes! She has chosen my husband Pat, as "her person" and is his shadow constantly watching his every move and loves to "talk" to him. She is extremely athletic and loves to go and LOVES water! She's got endless energy, but when she decides that it's time for some r & r ... she is a major snuggler and as soon as she senses Pat headed for the couch, she will leap up there before anyone else so she can just snuggle right up into his neck. We do sometimes joke, that all of the smarts and attentiveness from an entire litter of puppies went into her because she just really seems to have something extra about her. She loves toys, but really loves having a good ol' chew session on some moose antlers! Balls however, are a close second. She has a natural mothering instinct and took to motherhood of her first litter like a fish to water! She is a fantastic mother and super sweet and nurturing to her babies, which is always so heartwarming to us when it's just a natural ability, just like Hope was. We are very excited to have her in our breeding program and to see what super babies she makes!

About Grace
Grace, is out of our Denali 2022 litter, who was bred with GoldenFocus Harry Potter. Out of this breeding, we got our amazing sweet as pie Gracie girl. She has the most wonderful disposition and happy-go-lucky attitude about life in general. She is more on the quieter side and is one of the BIGGEST snuggle bug dogs we currently have. Her absolute favorite position is on the reclining couch, between Pat's legs laying on his chest! She has a beautiful white, sleek coat and dark pigmentation. She has the total people pleaser demeanor, wouldn't even dream of hurting a fly, has never chewed anything or done really anything naughty that I can think of! And in those very rare moments where she might just have a thought of doing something ... she will almost automatically 'punish' herself for having impure thoughts and will just sometimes give herself a timeout in her kennel! Lol! She definitely takes after her mother in the ball department ... she's almost a bigger ball-head than Denali! We typically breed our females on the heat cycle that falls after their 2nd birthday, which with her would have been in the Fall of 2024. However with Grace we held off for one more cycle just to give her a little more time to mature, we just felt that she was just not quite mentally ready to be a mom yet. But giving her that little extra time to mentally grow - paid off in spades. She is a FANTASTIC mother and just truly loves it. She's great pregnant, and when her babies arrive - well we just kind of stand back and let her do her thing. She raises some exceptional puppies. We are very blessed to have this wonderful girl as part of our family to continue the legacy.

About Klaus
We were introduced to Klaus in early 2025 when we were looking for a possible stud to breed Grace to for her Spring litter. Within minutes of meeting him, we knew he was truly something very special. So much so that we also immediately fell in love with one of his sons, which we did not have any plans of adding another dog to our pack at the time ... but it didn't take much to convince us that his son Goose needed to be part of our family (and hopefully breeding program in the future!!). Fast forward to August 2025, we received a call from his current owner to inquire if we would be interested in purchasing him ... again it didn't take much to agree that this was a smart decision as we already knew how much we liked him just from the breeding interaction we had earlier in the year. Now that he's been with us as part of our family for several months (at the time of updating this bio) it's become very clear that this was such a great decision on our part. He is so full of love and kindness and so very calm. He is an in your pocket kind of dog and wants to be near you at all times, but not in a busy body way, just a very quiet calm kind loving way. His full personality is still being unpacked as he gets more and more comfortable and secure that THIS is his forever home ... but every day he shows us a little more as he experiences several things about his new life that I feel he hasn't had the opportunity to do so in the past (i.e. like getting up on the couch!). Klaus has the absolute most AMAZING kind demeanor and he clearly passes that onto his offspring from what we've seen so far through his son Goose, as well his daughter Sophie. He has a champagne colored coat with a little bit of a wave to it. He is very solid and stocky, typical English build, with a stunning blocky head. We feel so lucky to have the opportunity to add him to our family and look forward to all the joy he will continue to bring us as well as families of his offspring.
