Meet the breeder

I'm Erin H., the breeder behind Birdsboro Pointers located in Olympia, WA. Birdsboro is a home-based breeding program founded in 1999 for dual-purpose, field/show pointers of both solid and parti-colors.

Q. & A. with Erin

  • Why did you start breeding?

I got my first Pointer in 1999. I was very fortunate to get a puppy from the top dual (show-field) kennel in the country. I benefited from the help of mentors who knew this line well, read every book I could, and analyzed pedigrees non-stop. But more than anything, I learned from my dog. And he went on to become the foundation of our breeding program.
  • What makes your program special?

Our breeding program is known for producing beautiful, healthy, dual-purpose (field/show) Pointers who are very well socialized (from growing up on our farm with our children). We incorporated solid colored Pointers (from Scandinavia) in or breeding program in 2010, and have been working hard to maintain color diversity in the breed. We have also been fortunate to add dual-purpose Italian lines into ours, which have made our awesome lines even better.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include orange and white, orange, liver and white, liver, lemon and white, lemon, black and white, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Getting a puppy from Erin

Erin has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Erin partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.

“We match puppies at 7-8 weeks based on the needs and wants of families. We take into consideration your goals for your puppy (e.g. hunting, showing, lifestyle) and if you have a gender or color preference. Local families can start to meet puppies at 6 weeks of age. For non-local families, we offer videos and updates on our website. We ask families for their feedback (puppy ranking) at this time. Obviously we cannot guarantee every family gets their top pick. But, it always seems to work out and we have yet to have a disappointed family. Puppy pick is NOT based on order of deposits. However, whether we have a puppy available to you in a litter does go by date deposits were sent in.”

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 refundable deposit and $1,700 final payment, before taxes & fees.
Pay over time with Klarna.

“All of our Pointer puppies are the same price, regardless of color, gender, or pet/show/hunting potential. We will refund a deposit if we do not have a puppy in our litter to match with your family. We will not require you to leave your deposit for a future litter.”

Contract & health guarantee

Erin may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Erin offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don't hesitate to reach out to Erin directly.

All contracts are handled securely through Good Dog.
