I'm Deby R., the breeder behind Bit O'Heaven Farm located in Yelm, WA. All puppies are sired by AKC Champion Sires with great temperaments. I use carefully selected stud dogs to breed good family or certified therapy dogs. Pups are raised in my house with cats and birds; they are socialized well and handled daily. They are bred and raised to be wonderful companions.
Q. & A. with Deby
Why did you start breeding?
I have always loved the Golden Retriever breed and started the journey of becoming a reputable breeder by purchasing my Champion bred foundation girl from my mentor (who has been breeding since 1995). I have a passion to produce happy, healthy family companions, and am dedicated to furthering my education to continue to improve my breeding program as well as share my knowledge with others!
What makes your program special?
I am dedicated to looking out for the genetic health of this breed as a whole. I know the health and status of my dogs and am proud of the temperament and excellent conformation of my puppies. My dogs are my family and I welcome any questions at any time. Many owners have become good friends.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include dark golden, golden, and light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Josey, mom
Golden Retriever
About Josey
Josey is my heart dog. Sweet, loving, fun and funny. Great companion! Born and raised here on Bit O'Heaven farm.
Robin, mom
Golden Retriever
About Robin
Robin is a typical Golden size (having been bred from show stock) - 22-24" in height. She is a SMART cookie and passes that onto her offspring. She has had 5 beautiful litters with a rainbow of puppy colors. Her own color is a medium golden with pretty blonde highlights. Athletic, beautifully feathered, solid boned which she passes to her babies. She also insists on hugs throughout the day and checks in every morning with her head and paws on the bed.
Genetic diversity is important in all species. Her sire is a champion and outcross for Josey, Robin's dam. Genetic information has been gathered on all the girls as well as all OFA certifications have been done. Proper health includes a varied healthy diet, vaccines, and worming for all of the girls. The goal is to breed healthy, happy dogs with great temperaments for a family, sports, and/or therapy dog. Several pups from this kennel are service and/or therapy dogs; they are certainly great companions! This is her last litter.

Poppy, mom
Golden Retriever
About Poppy
Poppy is a love bug! She wants to be near her humans. Gentle, quiet, somewhat shy and always nearby. She is very athletic and loves water (her sister is being trained as gun dog). I breed for temperament and correct structure so all the girls are athletic and good family dogs. She is very smart and easily trained.
Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Good level
Bit O'Heaven Farm reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Golden Retrievers.
Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary)
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia (Preliminary)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Ichthyosis, Golden Retriever Type
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
VetGen DNA Testing, Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), Golden Retriever Type, OFA/CHIC DNA Repository, Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis 5 (NCL5), Golden Retriever Type, Cleft Palate (ADAMTS20), Brachycephaly
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
