At Blackgold Great Danes we focus on breeding excellence. Our dogs regularly compete in the show ring and are proven champions. Why did you start breeding?
I wanted to do my part to better the breed. My breeding program strives to maintain the unique characteristics of the breed while placing an emphasis on producing Great Danes of superior health, temperament, and conformation.What makes your program special?
I am a professional handler of Great Danes. I do not breed my dogs unless they are fully healthy and genetically tested. I am dedicated to always having responsible breeding policies not only when producing puppies, but when socializing and training them, too! I utilize Puppy Culture protocols to prepare them to excel in their forever homes. I strive to breed healthy, quality pups that can fit any lifestyle. I take pride in raising well-tempered and socialized puppies who can excel in work, show, or as beloved companions.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
