I'm Karen I., the breeder behind Blauen Bergen located in Nokesville, VA. We are lifelong dog enthusiasts, and we’re excited to share our passion and purpose with others through our breeding program. Our focus is to produce the best dogs of the highest quality so that other families can also enjoy the love of a dog. These dogs have proven to be wonderful companions in our lives. It is a privilege to be able to share that love and friendship with others through responsible breeding.
Q. & A. with Karen
Why did you start breeding?
We became involved in breeding with the assistance of accomplished breeders and trainers in Germany and the United States. We developed relationships over the years and once we understood what makes a good German Shepherd and where they come from, we selected the best genetics available world wide. We were fortunate to acquire some of Germany's best. Our first National Champion (2002) VA1 Quana Zenteiche is from the best, most consistent top quality producing kennel in Germany. There are more VA rated and top V rated German Shepherds going back to her Grandmother VA Jasmin than any other female.
What makes your program special?
We are a small select breeder of top quality dogs. We understand the genetics within the breed and know which dogs are proven to meet our vision of what a German Shepherd should be. We know where to get them too. We have them. You can have them too. We offer lifetime support with ever puppy.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are black and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Karen and Randy were wonderful and made the process so easy. I really appreciate how they initially wanted to hear about our family and home. From there, they showed in-depth knowledge of German Shepherds and offered valuable information, as well as helpful advice.
Karen and Randy chipped our new family member, Tazzi, and provided all the documentation needed. They kept us updated on her growth and provided many pictures along the way. It was great. We were in love before we even saw Tazzi.
If we're looking for a puppy in the future, we are definitely checking with Karen and Randy.
Thank you!!
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
