I'm Sara B., the breeder behind Bolwerk’s 3B Acres located in New Holstein, WI. Our dogs are bred with the goal of creating puppies with amazing temperaments. We are very passionate about dogs and having the best companions for both in the home and on the farm.
Q. & A. with Sara
Why did you start breeding?
My husband and I have a shared passion for German Shepherd dogs. We currently have a 4 year old AKC registered and health tested German Shepherd, Millie. She had her first litter of 9 puppies in 2024, and just had her second litter of 8 puppies in July 2025. We retained one of her daughters from her first litter and plan to add her to our breeding program once she passes all health testing.
What makes your program special?
Our breeding program is special because we pride ourselves on producing well rounded animals that are athletic but can also find the “off button” and relax. We socialize our puppies to all sorts of scenarios. They meet different people (including kids), all sorts of farm animals, other dogs and cats, as well as being exposed to different noises and stimuli.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have stock coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Millie
Millie is such a sweet girl. She loves to play outside around the farm, run with the four-wheeler, and play ball. But she also knows how to relax and loves to cuddle. The best of both worlds!
Bolwerk’s 3B Acres reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
DNA Disease Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
