Meet the breeder

I'm Lori S., the breeder behind Breezewood Kennel located in Joliet, IL. Our pups will have their first vaccine, been dewormed, microchipped, vet checked and temperament tested before going home. Our litters are raised in our home and socialized with kids and other pets daily. We co-own many of our dogs to ensure that the best care and individual attention is given to each as they deserve. Most of our girls are only bred 2 times and then spayed and if they are co-owned they get to live out their lives with the family they were raised with. From each litter we choose the best overall female to co-own with the goal of breeding her in the future.

Q. & A. with Lori

  • Why did you start breeding?

Around that time my mom decided to separate her dogs names from the Driftwood kennel we had originally bought from and she chose Rosewood Goldens after our beloved Rosie. That all took place in Lemont Ill which is 30 miles south west of Chicago. In 2009 I, Lori Selof-Steck got married and moved to the Charlottesville VA area. With that change I decided to distinguish my dogs from my mom's (though I am proud to have the same bloodlines) so we sought a kennel name. My husband came up with the call name Breeze for our first pup we raised together. As well on our commute between Chicago and VA we pass a town called Breezewood so it just fit-Breezewood Kennel it is! My mom, Joyce, passed away due to pancreatic cancer on Oct. 17th 2012. Joyce left a legacy of her unshakable faith, commitment to family and of course her love of animals and desire to breed great Goldens! At the time my mom passed away she had dogs she co-owned and had plans to go forward with breeding. She had signed those dogs over to me and I am happy to say we are continuing those lines!
  • What makes your program special?

I am also a professional groomer. I have over 15 years experience grooming dogs of all breeds. I can groom to your breeds standard trim or to your personal specifications. Our atmosphere is calm and quiet so stress is minimal for your dog. Appointment times are flexible to work around your schedule. Rates are reasonable. Our home where we groom is located in Joliet.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.
