Meet the breeder

I'm Rose H., the breeder behind Brookmont Portuguese Podengo Pequenos located in Marietta, GA. I have been involved in the world of purebred dogs for well over forty years now, both in obedience, theory work, and conformation. In 2011 I met this cute little scruffy thing they called a Portuguese Podengo Pequeno and instantly fell in love. All of our puppies are raised to be happy, healthy dogs, whether for the conformation ring or just family pets.

Q. & A. with Rose

  • Why did you start breeding?

I got into breeding with Irish Setters as I wanted to improve what I was seeing in the world. As a breeder it is my obligation to the breed, to improve on the qualities of the standard, to make better dogs for the next generation of dog breeders, and to improve the life and health of the dogs I breed.
  • What makes your program special?

Research is what makes our breeding program special. We research the pedigrees, health records, and backgrounds of all the dogs we breed. We want to make sure they fit into our breeding program for the betterment of the breed.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
