I'm Bryan R., the breeder behind Brymar Weimaraners located in Troy, TX. Currently, we have five dogs at home. All but one are now or have been top ten field dogs. One is the 2022 National Field Champion another is the 2023 National Walking Gun Dog Champion. My dogs have produced multiple high-level offspring that are some of the breeds best in the field, show ring, agility, tracking and I have a number of dogs that are highly competitive in AKC and American Field pointing dog field trials including a 2x National Amateur Field Champion. All that and they spend most of every day on my couch.
Q. & A. with Bryan
Why did you start breeding?
I owned two finished show champions that matched up well and my mentor who had been in the breed for 50 plus years encouraged me to breed them. Since that time my goal has been a simple one: leave the breed better than I found it!
What makes your program special?
I believe strongly that the Weimaraner is a hunting dog and as such must exhibit qualities indicative of a functional hunter. That said, I am one of very few breeders that truly breed for and compete in both field and show all while keeping the mental capability to be a companion in the home. Currently, I have three show champions that have been or still are in the top 10 field living in my home.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have smooth coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are gray. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
