I'm Mary O., the breeder behind Cabernet Standard Poodles located in California. At Cabernet Standard Poodles, we subscribe to the Poodle Club of America's Code of Ethics. Q. & A. with Mary
Why did you start breeding?
In 1982, we went to an AKC show to watch Standard Poodles and to hopefully meet breeders. We met a breeder and eventually purchased Calvin, our first show dog. Although Calvin didn’t turn out to be a show dog, we were blessed by him until the day he said good-bye to us at 13. We returned to Calvin’s breeder and selected Brie. Cabernet Standard Poodles began when we bred Brie.
What makes your program special?
We both feel very committed to the breed in doing everything possible to produce Standard Poodles that are ambassadors of the breed. The positions we hold within numerous poodle clubs demonstrate our dedication to breeding high-quality dogs. We subscribe, as members of Poodle Club of America, to the club’s Code of Ethics, which includes important goals such as producing Poodles that are within the official standard for the breed, good health, socialization, longevity, and giving our puppy buyers assistance and advice as needed.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
