I'm Angela M., the breeder behind Cades Akitas and Aarbelle’s Portuguese Water Dogs located in Lebanon, IN. BREEDING SINCE 2004 We are located in Central Indiana. Where we are devoted to the well being of the Akita and Portuguese Water Dog breeds. We show in AKC confirmation and also do some performance like FCat. My mentors Francee Hamblet of Minda’s Akitas, Kathy Sullivan of Sunshine Akitas, Paula Lane of Valiant Akitas, Marcie Howard of Shiojiri Akitas.

Why did you start breeding?
I am the second generation breeder, as I grew up with the Akita breed. In high school I groomed for a show chow breeder.What makes your program special?

Our Portuguese Water Dog puppies include brown and white, black and white, black, and brown. Akita puppies include silver, black, silver undercoat, black, brown undercoat, brown, black overlay, fawn, fawn, black overlay, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Abby is an amazing girl. My daughter shows her in AKC Juniors and has put all her AKC points on her. She only needs a couple singles to finish her championship. Abby also does FCAT and FIT Dog with her junior handler!! I couldn’t ask for a better friend for my daughter.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
