I'm Erica M., the breeder behind Caldersong Kennels located in Bethel, OH. We’re proud to be a foundation kennel for the United States recognition of this amazing breed. Our goal is to utilize the diverse working background of the Yakutian Laika to produce healthy, active family companions. We support and encourage all activities with our dogs, such as mushing, backpacking, conformation, obedience and weight-pull.
Q. & A. with Erica
Why did you start breeding?
Having befriended a breeder several years before getting our first dog, we knew Yakutian Laikas were the ideal breed for us-pairing an intelligent, inquisitive nature with a more biddable temperament. We wanted a dog that would be equally at home on an all-day hike or cuddling on the sofa and the Yakutian Laika was it!
What makes your program special?
Our breeding efforts seek to maintain the working heritage of the Yakutian Laika. Dogs produced by Caldersong have excelled in Rally obedience, weight pull, dryland mushing, scent work and herding/farm work.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include white, gray and white, white and black, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
