  • Why did you start breeding?

    I fell in love with the breed as a child. I researched the breed for years before finally bringing home my first Frenchie, Francine. Her companionship and temperament were unlike any other dog I have had. I wanted to be able to produce healthy Frenchies for happy families like my own.

  • What makes your program special?

    My dogs are my babies. They go through training, health testing, everything they need to live their best lives. We spend our free time at the beach and playing with our other dog friends. They all, seriously all of them, sleep in my bed with me every night.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and guardian homes.

Getting a puppy from Merissa

Merissa has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Merissa partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Price

Puppy prices include a $1,000 non-refundable deposit and between $4,000 - $5,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Price is with limited AKC registration on a spay/neuter contract unless otherwise specified. Your deposit is placed to reserve your puppy. The remaining balance is due before you pick up your puppy. Deposits are only refundable if any health issues are found at time of veterinary exams.”

This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. California Dream Frenchies reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for French Bulldogs.

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Tracheal Hypoplasia, Spine (OFA, FCI)

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • PRA, Cone-Rod Dystrophy 4 (PRA-crd4), Cystinuria Type 3, French Bulldog Type Risk Factor, Chondrodystrophy and IVDD Risk (CDDY-IVDD), Hereditary (Juvenile) Cataracts (HC; JC), Australian Shepherd Type, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), Hyperuricosuria (HUU), Multifocal Retinopathy 1 (CMR1)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    I first started following California Dream Frenchies over four years ago when we started looking for our first Frenchie but ended up getting her elsewhere. We have always talked about getting a second. Without really knowing when or if it would happen, one night while waiting at In-N-Out I stumbled upon “Meatball” in one of Merissa’s Instagram stories and that’s how we ended up with our sweet Lola. From the application process to the first conversation with Merissa, to picking up Lola and everything in between it has been a wonderful experience! Her knowledge, responsiveness and passion is impressive, you can truly tell how much she cares! If you are thinking about getting your first, second or third Frenchie (no judgement) don’t look any further! If we decided tomorrow to do it all over again, Merissa would without a doubt be the first phone call!

    I recently bought my first puppy from California Dream Frenchies and it was an amazing experience! Merissa has been very informative and responsive from the day I first reached out to inquire about her puppies. She did not hesitate to get on the phone with me and answer any questions I had about this process as a first time dog owner, and she still keeps in touch with me now that I have my puppy. I could immediately tell that she was very passionate about the pups and their health which was a top priority for me. Merissa also made sure to send me tons of pictures of my puppy throughout the entire process as well which I really enjoyed during the weeks leading up to pickup.
