I'm Susan C., the breeder behind Callen Kennels located in Rensselaerville, NY. We keep a variety of factors in mind when choosing dogs to breed, including health, temperament, pedigree, and complementary traits, so that puppies can inherit the best of both parents. I don DNA testing, OFAs, and completed wellness exams for health and eyes by licensed veternarians.

RELLA, mom
Miniature American Shepherd
About RELLA
Meet Our Exceptional Miniature:
This charming girl stands 14-15 inches tall and produces stunning pups with excellent lineage. Her old line heritage ensures she is a beautiful mover with a strong pedigree.
She is clear of NAD and her DNA panel and OFA results are all clear and good. Hailing from Champion stock, she continues the legacy of her dam, Midge. Midge, a champion herself, was an exemplary representation of the older style minis with correct movement, structure, and a wonderful temperament.
In an incredible turn of events, Midge went missing for 22 months near Cornell University. After an extensive search by many dedicated trappers, she was found and returned to us on April 9, 2024—coincidentally on my birthday.
Our little girl embodies the excellence of her lineage, combining a rich heritage with proven health and temperamental traits.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
