Q. & A. with Tracy

  • Why did you start breeding?

I researched and learned and decided it was something I wanted to do. I found my first pair of dogs, learned about health testing. I started on my own, but now have a community I can learn from and teach.
  • What makes your program special?

It’s small, my parents are genetically health tested, and hips and elbows ofa tested. I breed for temperament and health. I use an indept puppy curriculum and strive to provide service, therapy, facility and exceptional pets. Puppies will be temperament tested to help match with families. I provide pictures and videos on my Facebook page of all my dogs and puppies. My retired parents continue their lives as part of my family. I offer a lifetime of support to my puppy parents and will always take one of my puppies back if ever needed. I have a nonprofit, Camp Woods Legacy, we donate specialized trained dogs and untrained puppies to be service, facility and therapy dogs to deserving people. My dogs and puppies are used in the nonprofit.

Hi Tracy. Abbey is a work in progress. She is terribly afraid of other dogs. I am spending time just sitting in my vets office so she can observe other normal dogs. Walking her is a challenge as she is on high alert for other dogs. So far there have been only a couple of good encounters when the other walkers have a calm dog and are willing to work with me to touch noses. I may have to take her to our local dog trainer to find other ways to allow Abbey to overcome her extreme fear of other dogs. Abbey is a very sweet insecure dog. She has finally looked me in the eye but only after a lot of work to get her to trust me. Fortunately she has come to fully trust me and that was the first hurdle. Now my total focus is on getting her to become a real dog in interacting with other dogs in a normal way. She is growing like a weed and enjoying my huge fenced yard. I am sad that she was not introduced to other dogs in her early months so I could have had a dog that truly enjoyed her walks so I could enjoy chatting with my friends on the trails surrounding salmon. She will be loved and well taken care of with me and we will just move forward day by day. Karen Reed
