Meet the breeder

I'm Clarence S., the breeder behind Casablanca Miniature Schnauzers located in Silver Spring, MD. Our focus is on excellence in every aspect of our breeding program. We have high expectations for our puppies and make sure to place each one with an enriching and loving family complementary to their personality and ability!

Q. & A. with Clarence

  • Why did you start breeding?

Schnauzers are an incredible breed, and we decided to start our breeding program to preserve the wonderful qualities we found in our dogs. They excel both in and out of the show ring. We are dedicated to improving our lines with each generation so the breed will continue to thrive for a long time to come.
  • What makes your program special?

We are experienced breeders, and we take our role seriously. We keep a variety of factors in mind when choosing dogs to breed, including health, temperament, pedigree, and complementary traits, so that puppies can inherit the best of both parents.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black and silver and salt and pepper. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

They really kept us informed of his progress from the time he became ours. We were very impressed for their obvious love and care of Stormy, his mom and all the brothers and sisters when we picked him up. They made sure we had all the information we needed to continue with his care. He is a wonderful puppy and we are totally thrilled with him and appreciate the good start he got with Vivian and Clarence,

Six weeks ago Clarence and Vivian Stiehm at Casablanca Miniature Schnauzers filled a giant hole in my husband’s and my heart. They filled it with a sweet little puppy whom they selected just for us. Responding to the GoodDog questionnaire, they recognized that we need a loving little dog to help cure the grief from the premature passing of our previous schnauzer last spring. They also recognized that as empty nesters, we did not need a rambunctious puppy to play with children or other dogs, but rather an accommodating new family member whom we can travel with and have with us all the time. And that’s exactly what our Lily is turning out to be. We had conversations with Clarence about what we hoped for and that is exactly what he delivered. By the time we picked our girl up we felt like we knew her already because we had received photos of her and even a video of her playing with her littermates in the backyard. The day we picked her up, Lily was waiting quietly on Vivian’s lap, in the family room, already well on her way to being part of the family at just ten weeks. She was almost completely house trained and sleeps quietly through the night. A dream come true. And that’s because Casablanca Schnauzers invests time, attention, expertise, and most of all, individual tender loving care in every one of their puppies, putting quality before quantity. We looked at a lot of breeders but none compare to Casablanca.
