I'm Leanne P., the breeder behind Choice Red Standards located in Fairfield, CA. We are small preservation breeder with limited litters. We only breed purebred AKC registered standard poodles. Parents are fully health tested and have been assigned CHIC numbers from the Orthopedic Foundation of America. Testing results can be provided upon request. Puppies are raised in our home with children and other dogs. We practice the Puppy Culture method of raising our pups. They will be UTD on shots and wormer and will be microchipped.

My dogs are part of the family. They are raised in our home. We take great care to give them every opportunity to succeed with their new families.What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Getting a puppy from Leanne

Leanne partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.

“The puppies will be guaranteed to be free of any genetic diseases. Prior to going to their new homes, they will be UTD on shots, wormer and be microchipped. When they leave here, they will have been introduced to crate training and be almost completely house broke. I include a go home bag that contains a leash, food, records and a blanket and toy.”

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA), Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
