I'm Christy & Eric T., the breeder behind The Kennels at Tate Farm located in Hattiesburg, MS. The Kennels at Tate Farm – South Hattiesburg, Mississippi Hi, we’re Eric and Christy Tate, the heart behind The Kennels at Tate Farm in South Hattiesburg, Mississippi. What began over six years ago with the simple dream of adding one Basset Hound to our farm quickly turned into a deep passion for preserving and raising this wonderful breed. From the very beginning, we committed ourselves to finding the healthiest, most well-structured foundation hounds possible. Our goal has always been to produce Basset Hounds that are not only beautiful, but also happy, healthy, and well socialized members of the family. Our dogs are raised right here on our farm as part of our daily life — not in kennels away from the home. They enjoy room to roam, plenty of love, and constant interaction with us and the rest of the pack. We focus on temperament just as much as conformation, because we believe a great Basset should be both stunning and a joy to live with. All of our hounds are health tested with clear results. They are fed a high-quality diet that includes premium kibble along with carefully prepared homemade meals — both cooked and raw — many sourced right here from our farm. This allows us to know exactly what goes into their bodies and helps them thrive. We are proud to share our journey openly. We post frequent photos and videos so our puppy families can watch their little ones grow. We also welcome approved families to visit in person once puppies are six weeks old and have received their first vaccinations. Puppies go home at eight weeks of age, well socialized, loved, and started on the path to becoming wonderful companions. One of the most special parts of our program is that our retired dogs never leave us. Our beloved Hazel is now enjoying retirement here on the farm, following us around, soaking up the sunshine, and sleeping in her cozy bed by our side — exactly as it should be. As we look to the future, we are excited to begin a new chapter with our beautiful young girl, Dolly Jolene. She is growing, learning from the pack, and showing wonderful promise. We look forward to her journey and the next generation of Tate Farm Bassets. At the end of the day, our breeding program is built on love, transparency, health, and lifelong commitment to every hound we raise. Raised with love on our farm, and placed with families who become part of our extended Basset family.
