Meet the breeder

I'm Debbie N., the breeder behind Columbia Gorge Cotons located in Fairview, OR. Our goal at Columbia Gorge Cotons is to produce pups that exhibit the fun-loving Coton qualities that families expect and to provide potentially breedable puppies that will benefit future generations; keeping the Malagasy Coton de Tulear genetically healthy and preserving our rare breed.

Q. & A. with Debbie

  • Why did you start breeding?

After I became an empty nester I decided my next dog would be a small purebred dog from a breeder. I found a Coton de Tulear breeder near me and fell in love with the breed. I then realized I wanted to give to others the love and companionship that my Coton had given to me and I became a breeder.
  • What makes your program special?

I breed for health and temperament first. Our Cotons live in our home and are family members. My puppies are raised using Jane Killion's Puppy Culture program. Puppies are crate trained before going to their new homes. I share weekly videos with families showing puppies development and behavioral markers. My breed club is in partnership with Embark Vet; breeding decisions are a team effort.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
