Shellie K.

Breeder of Pembroke Welsh Corgis

Meet the breeder

I'm Shellie K., the breeder behind Country Crack-Ups located in Hewitt, MN. Our puppies become integral members of our family. They’re a daily part of everything we do until they’re ready to join their forever families.

Q. & A. with Shellie

  • Why did you start breeding?

Well, we needed a cattle dog simply because I really dislike chasing calves around the country. Watching a dog with short legs and long ears move cows? Freaking priceless! Should we discuss the three legged April Fool’s goat, crossing the fence? Let’s just say, they run identical. Best laugh ever! So we just had to get another corgi. He is the sweetest lover boy I have ever met. Who knew that you can gain a new best friend and emotional support ‘good boy’ when you are looking for a goofy sidekick? This is the reason I began breeding. The search was on for a quality registered girl who is kind and quiet for breeding family dogs with the temperament of support animals. The world needs more of amazing genetic gene pool that I enjoy every single day. Then empty nest kicked me square in pants and I personally needed more pitter patter of puppy paws. We now have a family of seven corgi’s that all live in our home filling the silence with love and corgi hair. Don’t judge until you have bunches of snuggles on the couch. Pure gold!
  • What makes your program special?

Our program developed around gentle, kind corgi’s that have the disposition and characteristics of support animals. We do have Harley, that was trained to be a cattle dog and is a little more high strung. She has retired so I turned my focus to family friendly love bugs. The breeding programs we developed has taken years and we will not breed all of our pets.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include red and white and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
