I'm Kay C., the breeder behind Countrylane Corgis located in Gutnersville, AL. I have bred, raised, and shown Pembroke Welsh Corgis for years. Many of my Corgis have gone on to be Champions in the show ring, and all are wonderful companions.
Q. & A. with Kay
Why did you start breeding?
I wanted to breed quality Corgis so I connected with the legendary Corgi breeder Elaine Erganbright of Larklain Kennel in Denver CO. She let me have one of her best, Ch. Larklain Lees Wild Honey, a young specialty winner that was bred to her famous champion Redd Dandy. This cross gave me my first champion, who was raised and shown by me.
What makes your program special?
I was lucky to be mentored by one of the United States top Corgi breeders. She sent me top quality dogs and advised me on every aspect of breeding. She helped me with everything from whelping puppies, proper raising, advice on which ones to keep, how to screen new owners, all aspects of socializing, training, showing, understanding pedigrees, and making the right crosses in my breeding program. I love breeding, raising, and showing Pembroke Welsh Corgis.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
