I'm Jane G., the breeder behind Courage Rhodesian Ridgebacks located in Chino Valley, AZ. Ridgebacks are a HUGE part of our lives. For nearly 40 years I have owned, shown (AKC Conformation), bred, and judged this breed. The results of all this attention and love of Ridgebacks has resulted in many successes. Dozens of Conformation champions, lure course titled and various other titles and letters in front of and behind there names. Rhodesian Ridgebacks have been a part of my life and my family since 1987. Courage Ridgebacks are always family tempered & loyal.
Q. & A. with Jane
Why did you start breeding?
When our first Ridgeback, Chelsea, joined our family, I quickly realized this breed was something truly special. She was not only striking and athletic, but also deeply intuitive, affectionate, and in sync with our lives. What started as a bond with one incredible dog quickly grew into a lifelong passion for Rhodesian Ridgebacks. As my interest deepened, I became involved in dog shows, field events, and eventually earned credentials as an AKC judge in both Conformation and Lure Coursing. These experiences gave me a comprehensive understanding of the breed—from structure and movement to temperament and drive—through both competition and daily life with my own dogs. Breeding under the name Courage Rhodesian Ridgebacks, my goal has always been to produce well-balanced dogs—physically and emotionally. I prioritize health, stable temperament, and sound conformation in every carefully planned litter. Whether a Ridgeback goes on to compete, hike mountain trails, or simply warm a family's heart (and feet), each one reflects the quality and care behind my breeding program. With over 35 years of experience, I continue to be deeply committed to preserving and promoting the best qualities of this remarkable breed—while helping every Courage puppy find a home where they can thrive.
