Q. & A. with Emma
Why did you start breeding?
I got into ethical dog breeding when I realized the first puppy I purchased was not from a good breeder and now has health issues. My next purchase, my Dane Kailua, was from a quality breeder who has taught me so much. She has become my mentor in the breeding process. I got into dog sports when I first started training Lu in group classes and fell in love. I will always have a sport dog!
What makes your program special?
Great Danes were originally a hunting breed. While my dogs don’t hunt, they are bred to be fit and to the breed standard. These dogs are capable of going on long adventures, sport events, or even just lounging around comfortably. I love what I can offer puppy buyers with health tested parents and titles to prove temperaments and ability. All pups will be raised with Puppy Culture.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blue and white, blue, harlequin, and merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Meatball
Fully OFA health tested and titled, Meatball is such a fun and good dog! He is medium drive and loves sports. He is out of my female Kailua, who is also fully health tested and titled, and his sire is also health tested and another sporty Dane. Our desire with Meatball’s litter was drivier Danes with a good off switch that are still structurally sound - as shown by Meatball competing in the conformation world as well.

Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
