Meet the breeder

I'm April C., the breeder behind Curly Q’s Of Carlyss located in Sulphur, LA. We work hard to produce healthy, well-rounded puppies that will make others as happy as our dogs have made us! We commit ourselves towards preparing each one of our puppies to thrive in their new homes, and we enjoy working with their new families so that they can raise their beloved companions with confidence!

Q. & A. with April

  • Why did you start breeding?

I work at our local veterinary clinic (13 years) and was a breeder of mini dachshunds until hurricane Rita in 2005. John and I moved to Carlyss, Louisiana in 2015 when we got our first Goldendoodle and Standard Poodle, Coco and Cinna. The family fell in love & Curly Q's Of Carlyss began. These girls have been such a great addition to our family and bring so much joy and happiness. It’s always been my dream to be a breeder again and I knew now was the time to get started.
  • What makes your program special?

We work hard to set them up for success in their new homes with you. Their health needs of vet checks, deworming, vaccinations & any other needs that occur are taken care of. (It’s a bonus that I work at the vet’s office.) Crate/kennel training is also practiced while with us. This allows puppies to feel safe and secure as they grow. We do start on potty training at 4 weeks with turf, then transition to consistent visits outside.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Goldendoodle puppies include miniature, medium, and standard sizes. Bernedoodle puppies include mini and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Goldendoodle puppies include cream, apricot, red, chocolate, black, phantom, merle, and parti. Bernedoodle puppies include brown, black and white, tri-color, and merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

Absolutley amazing! Updates and pics everyday, Reed was already so well behaved when he came home. Communication was amazing while we were waiting to be able to go get him! 5 stars for April and the curly Qs team!
