I'm Carrie A., the breeder behind Dark Goldens on Hilltop located in Lebanon, OR. Our dogs present beautifully in conformation and athleticism with dark, deep color. They are active while demonstrating temperaments well-suited for any purpose. We are committed to our puppies health and make every effort to provide an experience that will be a joy to our buyers.

Why did you start breeding?
A dear friend, recently lost to cancer, bought me my first golden retriever after we had discussed family projects that were fulfilling but allowed a mom to be at home to raise the kids. I had no idea how much this would mean to us! Together, we learn daily how best to raise and care for puppies, constantly challenged to improve our program and contribute to the improvement of the breed.What makes your program special?
I think what makes us special is true commitment to the health and well-being of our dogs which includes continuing education on our part, honesty and integrity according to a Christian standard, and simply time spent. We are in the home, with our dogs every minute of every day. I believe that ,like children, the first months of life are crucial to a puppy’s formation and future success.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are dark golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Carrie
Carrie has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Carrie partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.
"Buyers come to our home to interact with the available puppies and parent dogs. Temperaments and characteristics of each Puppy are provided and buyers make the final decision. Buyers who cannot come in person will receive a FaceTime call to choose their puppy. "

"This includes limited or full(extra charge) AKC registration, 2 year genetic health guarantee, age-appropriate worming and vaccinations, excellent socialization, gift bag."

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Ichthyosis, Golden Retriever Type
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
