I'm Sue D., the breeder behind Darkside Retrievers located in Vienna, OH. Our goal is to breed healthy, stable, curly-coated Retrievers that will be wonderful companion dogs. Our dogs are bred for health and temperament. We emphasize conformation but our dogs have excelled in the field, obedience, and other venues but also must be happy and healthy family members.

    I was encouraged to breed by mentors in the breed.
  • What makes your program special?

    I believe in going above and beyond in socializing my puppies. I also encourage and help my puppy owners get involved in the breed.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Getting a puppy from Sue

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,000 - $1,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes 3 generation pedigree, AKC registration, all first puppy vaccinations, microchip, as well as health records. The contract includes a puppy guarantee. A deposit of $500 is required once puppies have been born. The deposit is due once puppies are born.”

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
