Meet the breeder

I'm David C., the breeder behind Davids Golden Retrievers located in Loomis, CA. Lower Coefficient of Inbreeding resulting in Better Genetics. Longer Lifespan less chances of getting Cancer, Fewer Veterinarian Bills, Higher Intelligence, Better Bone Density, Skin coat etc,.

Q. & A. with David

  • Why did you start breeding?

Have had Goldens for 35 years now. They are the best Breed to raise, very smart. New Years Eve years is when the Dogs Mated, 8 years ago. That is what we did for months afterwards bringing lots of Joy into the Home. Sometimes there are older pups for sale as most people want young, little ones. We do not ship them. Want to know who, where they are going, even if it means keeping them longer what is best for them. When Covid was here the entire Litter was sold before they were born. The shelters are full and somtimes it takes longer to place them. No fault of the animal at all. A lot of times the older ones are potty, crate trained also.
  • What makes your program special?

We traveled many miles to get the Females. Over 750 miles one way. This broke up the Blood Lines for a Lower COI factor, Coefficient of Inbreeding as too much in breeding is taking place, Swapping around the local dogs is what usually happens. This was for the Betterment of the Breed. The 4 Generation Pedigrees show no relations at all. Very Important as this produces Better Genetics in the Puppies. Longer life span, bone density, less chances of getting cancer, genetic diseases, adult size, Higher Intelligence, better Skin, Coat, Better Hips, Elbows, Fewer Veterinary bills over time etc. OFA testing done on HIPS, ELBOWS, HEART, EYES and Full Genetic panel Clearances, DNA work is Complete!!
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

David is very responsive and careful to send his pups to good homes. He takes extreme care to ensure there is no inbreeding and that his dogs genetics are clean. Our little girl is very sweet and healthy. We would have liked a little more information about her personality and to take a little more time getting to know her before bringing her home. David is clearly fond of his dogs and takes very good care to ensure they are well bred and healthy

We had such a wonderful experience getting our dog from Davif. The process was quick and easy, and it was clear she had been loved and well cared for. Communication was great, and we were able to meet the very next day. He even went with us to a pet store to help us get everything we needed, which was so thoughtful. It’s obvious he is passionate about his dogs and truly cares about placing them in the best homes. We couldn’t be happier!

I had a truly wonderful experience getting a puppy from David! He called me right away and spoke with me at length about the genetics, health, and background of his goldens and provided a ton of useful advice as well. He clearly loves his dogs and wants to make sure they end up in good homes, and he even drove to a pet store to meet us and help us getting everything we needed for our pup. I feel very fortunate to have found David and we love our sweet puppy he is a wonder little guy! I would definitely recommend David he is a wonderful breeder and overall human!

We got our Buddy over a week ago from David, and we could not be happier! David clearly loves and cares for the puppies he breeds; they are part of his family, and he does not rush to give them away, but rather ensures they end up with the right families (e.g., where at least one person stays home, there is a backyard, etc.). We are grateful for that, because we were able to get a year-old pup, as we did not want to deal with really young puppies. Buddy is very affectionate and got quickly accustomed to us and our place. He came to us with good basic training - he is crate and potty trained, he does not beg for food, he does not go upstairs, etc. He was quick to learn a couple of new obedience commands (come and sit). He loves fetching a ball and plays with his toys. We love our new member of the family! David has been very helpful throughout the whole process. When we met, he walked us through a pet store and showed us the various items we would need to get started (e.g., food, treats, toys, bowls, etc.). In the first few days, we had many questions (e.g., Buddy was nervous and did not want to eat, he did not want to walk on a leash, we were trying to teach him how to swim in our pool, etc.) and David was more than happy to answer all of them (via texts or phone calls). David asked for and enjoyed getting Buddy's pictures and videos, settling in his new home - clearly he loves his pups!
