I'm Debbie R., the breeder behind DCSHARPEI located in Four Oaks, NC. We have been involved with this special breed since 1988, owning, loving, and raising only the best quality Shar-pei. Health & temperament are our priority! We keep in touch with new owners for life and stand behind our dogs 100%. We have been featured in publications about the breed.
Q. & A. with Debbie
Why did you start breeding?
We received our first Shar-pei as a pet in 1988 and the story goes from there! In 1992 we began showing in conformation shows which led to breeding the occasional litter and dog training on site. Our dogs are our pets 1st. They have an acre of fenced in grass to run and frolic daily, no outside kennel runs. We keep our adults for life and DO NOT place our dogs after they are done breeding.
What makes your program special?
With 37 years experience in the breed, we have seen the transformation of the breed throughout the years and have bred out many of the common problems within the breed. We breed for a more moderate dog with less health issues. Our dogs are what used to be consider "classic" style by our parent breed club, in between the Traditional Shar-pei and the Meat Mouth which has less health issues.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include lilac dilute, chocolate dilute, blue dilute, and blue. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
