I'm Michelle M., the breeder behind De Leon Danes located in South Dayton, NY. My goal is to increase the longevity of Great Danes. My dogs are not bred for their color or height; they're bred for health first and foremost. I strive to improve the line with each generation by seeking out complementary traits in compatible puppy parents. I begin puppy socialization while they are with me, and I am careful to provide a healthy environment in which they can thrive. I look forward to connecting with you!
Q. & A. with Michelle
Why did you start breeding?
I've spent years learning through researching the breed, and its genetics and breeding in general. I've finally found the female that I feel confident can supply healthy, sweet, long-lived Danes to other lovers of this fantastic breed.
What makes your program special?
As long as the breed standard is met, I don't focus on color or height. While my dogs will be show quality, that's not my focus. I focus on health, temperament, and longevity. I want everyone to be able to enjoy their Dane for 10+ years, and I'm expecting my dogs to live into their teens. I'm confident that each one of my puppies will become a treasured family member!
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Michelle
Michelle has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Price
Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,300 - $2,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.
“The price includes pre-registration, puppy kit, first shots, deworming if necessary, beginning socialization and training. Most puppies will be sold on a limited, non-breeding registration. I ask for a deposit so I know for sure if a family is getting a pup or not. It avoids confusion for myself and other buyers. The deposit does come off the asking price. If a pup isn't available when the litter is whelped you can choose to wait for another litter or have the deposit refunded to you.”
Contract & health guarantee
Michelle may provide a written contract or
health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps
protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you
both have a clear understanding of the terms of your
puppy purchase. If Michelle offers a contract
or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them.
If you have any questions or want to know more,
don’t hesitate to reach out to Michelle directly.
Winston is a male Great Dane. Carefully selected as a great representative of his breed, Michelle decided to make him part of their program. Michelle has passed Good Dog’s screening process, which involved a review of their breeding practices, environment, and the mental and physical health of their dogs.
Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Great level
De Leon Danes reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Great Danes.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
