I'm Michael D., the breeder behind Derby Family Poodle located in Fuquay Varina, NC. We raise puppies that will be an amazing addition to any family! We focus on raising prospective therapy & support dogs. We are an in-home program & are dedicated to providing each of our puppies with loving & caring forever homes. We devote our time, energy, & efforts to ensure our puppies are properly socialized from the moment they are born & prepared to excel in their lives.

Why did you start breeding?
We wanted to put our passion for Poodles to good use. Breeding confident, well-adjusted puppies is our way to give back to the breed and the families who love them. We want nothing more than to see each of our dogs and puppies shine. We truly love our puppies and know you will, too! We pride ourselves on helping all of our clients find the right fit for their needs and lifestyle.
What makes your program special?
We care deeply about our puppies, and we do everything we can to ensure they get the best lives possible. That includes everything from choosing healthy parents with good temperaments, to proper socialization and daily care, to placing them in loving homes with wonderful families. We strive to provide each of our puppies and their families with a truly positive experience.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

Our puppies include apricot, red, and parti. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

Michael has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Puppy prices include a $500 deposit and between $1,000 - $1,700 final payment, before taxes & fees.

The deposit is refundable once an approved family covers your puppy reservation.”

About Ava
Ava- Truly a wonderful dog and Momma! Ava has a fantastic temperament for our family. She is athletic, caring, intuitive, and such a love! Ava is a loving mom and raises her pups in a caring way. She enjoys nursing and snuggling her pups. In fact, Ava has nursed her pups this past litter at least once per day through 8 weeks!

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
