I'm Laura A., the breeder behind Dog as Copilot located in Wallingford, CT. I breed with the intent of my pups becoming service dogs. Some make great pets instead.
Q. & A. with Laura
Why did you start breeding?
As I helped my clients find appropriate dogs for service work, it became clear that many breeders are just not breeding for the things that are important for the best service dogs. They have other things to focus on. So I decided that I would start breeding dogs for that purpose.
What makes your program special?
I use enriched puppy protocols to raise my pups, and I use temperament screening as well as health screening on all the parents in an effort to ensure that the pups I'm producing are the best they can be.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
