I'm Courtney K., the breeder behind Dog Mom Co. located in Gaylord, MI. As breeders, our promise is to never sacrifice quality and integrity for quantity. Our dogs are our families, and we do everything we can to make sure our dogs and our litters are more than cared for...they are loved deeply.
Q. & A. with Courtney
Why did you start breeding?
Danielle got her first dog, Ivan, back in December of 2020. We all fell in love with him immediately! She convinced me to get our puppy, Magnus, in February 2021! We decided to add Willow and Myra (both rehomes) to our dog family, and that's how Dog Mom Co. was started!
What makes your program special?
We had phenomenal experiences with both Ivan and Magnus's breeders, but we felt like we were missing out on the day to day life of our puppies before they became ours.
We decided that, as breeders, we wanted our potential families to follow the journey of their puppy from birth and every new experience they had along the way! We live stream our puppy births and post constant video updates.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable, black, brown, parti, and phantom. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

This is Clove (now Charley) from our last Standard Poodle litter! He just got a fresh groom, and his groomer said he did really well with the blower and that he was very smart! We love getting updates like this because it lets us know that all the hard work we put into our puppies pays off for their families ❤️

We did some training with Zendaya at Menards and the vest was so helpful! I heard four groups of people commenting not to pet her because she was in training!
We stopped off at a little park in town and took some cute pics🤩 I sure love this little girl!

Breeder-Reported Testing
Good level
Dog Mom Co. reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Standard Poodles.
Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary)
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia (Preliminary)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Full Embark Panel, DNA Profile, Optimal Selection Genetic Disease Analysis (180+ Diseases), DNA Disease Panel, DNA Coat/Trait Panel, Animal Genetics Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

Dog Mom is a wonderful company to work with.
The quality of the company shines through in their puppies.
High energy, very smart, kind, caring and funny!
My sweet boy Henri is now 4 months old and has been the dearest smartest dog since day one.
Henri had to jump in to the group as I have a 7 yr old dog and a 4yr old dog.
It feels like they have all been together forever, they are all fast friends.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
