Meet the breeder

I'm Carolyn D., the breeder behind Doodle Around located in Billings, MT. Our dogs are bred to be excellent family pets. We breed for health and temperament with a focus on therapy temperaments. Our goal is to provide our families with smart, healthy, calm, fun-loving family members. We allocate by temperament so puppies end up in homes in which they will be happiest.

Q. & A. with Carolyn

  • Why did you start breeding?

I fell in love with the first Labradoodle I met in 2006. After much research and meeting several more doodles, my husband and I decided to breed them to give more people the joy of owning one of these intelligent, friendly dogs.
  • What makes your program special?

I am committed to learning more about the best breeding practices by attending conferences and taking webinars monthly. All of our dogs are whelped in our bedroom and move into our family room at 2-3 weeks of age, where they become part of our family. They are given many interactive toys for large and small motor functions that change daily. We have live webcams running daily for transparency. We introduce a potty area around 2-3 weeks of age, and a doggy door around 5-7 weeks of age (depends on size of puppies and the weather). Puppies are typically pooping outside within a week, and 95% peeing outside before they leave our home.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies include miniature and medium sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include caramel ice, caramel cream, caramel, caramel red, red, apricot, cream, chalk, chocolate, cafe, lavendar, parchment, black, and tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

Carolyn kept in touch with us through the whole process. She sent pictures and when she found out we are using Twix as a therapy dog she took him to the store to help socialize him. She met us half-way, so we didn't have to drive so far to pick him up. She gave us a good bag with a week + worth of food, books, treats, blankets with home smells, toys, and so much good infromation. Twix will have a great life and is thriving in his new environment thanks to the beginning he was given by Carolyn. Thanks so much :)
