Meet the breeder

I'm Carissa F., the breeder behind Doodles of Joy located in Powell, WY. Carissa is the primary human involved in the breeding process, with an intense love of dogs. We live next door to Yellowstone National Park and love to raise our puppies in the country to experience all the beauty that nature has to offer.

Q. & A. with Carissa

  • Why did you start breeding?

In 2022, I found my Bernedoodle, Luna, and fell in love with doodles. I knew when I got her that I wanted to breed and spread the love of doodles. I spent months and months researching and preparing to breed Luna and knew I wanted to offer puppies that were unique and special. In 2023, we got Sydney, our Cockapoo, and have been anxiously awaiting her first litter.
  • What makes your program special?

I focus on socializing the dogs to be prepared for all experiences in life. I have gone through the Puppy Culture program and have successfully raised incredible puppies who are well-equipped to handle all stresses and challenges they may come across, but most importantly, to be loving, obedient, and incredible little puppies.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our Bernedoodle puppies are mini size. Cockapoo puppies are mini size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Bernedoodle puppies include black, black and white, and blue merle. Cockapoo puppies include buff and cream. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Good level

Doodles of Joy reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Bernedoodles.

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Vet Wellness Exam

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
