Q. & A. with Jared
Why did you start breeding?
Our journey into breeding began with our love for the English Bulldog and a desire to improve the breed. After caring for Jackson, who faced many health challenges, we became committed to producing healthier, well-tempered bulldogs. His legacy inspired us to start breeding with purpose, knowledge, and a focus on quality.
What makes your program special?
What makes our breeding program special is our deep, hands-on experience and unwavering commitment to health, structure, and temperament. We focus on quality over quantity, carefully selecting each pairing to uphold breed standards while reducing common health issues. Our bulldogs are raised in a loving home, setting the foundation for well-socialized, confident companions.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blue tri-color, fawn and white, and red brindle and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Norman
Norman is a fun, loving dog who is both smart and likes to run and around and play with us. He is gentle however, we like to call him the beast because of his stature and proud stance. We chose to adopt Norman from another breeder because he has a strong AKC pedigree lineage with parentage/grand parentage being of champion bloodline.

Bulldog
About Weezy
Weezy is our sweet girl who loves our children and spending time with us on the couch. She was bred for the health of the breed and it reflects in her energy level and overall conformation. We chose Weezy from a breeder who specializes in the health of the breed and is a mentor to us as we continue to strive for both breed standard and health of bulldogs.
Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Good level
Dowds Bulldogs reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Bulldogs.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Hyperuricosuria (HUU)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
