Q. & A. with Elyzza

  • Why did you start breeding?

My journey into dog breeding began with a lifelong love for animals, inspired by my close bond with my mother. We saw a need for well-bred, family-oriented dogs and decided to make our passion a reality. I immersed myself in learning about genetics and health standards, leading to the founding of Down Home Doodle, where I focus on connecting families with the perfect canine companions.
  • What makes your program special?

Down Home Doodle is dedicated to breeding exceptional bernedoodles that are perfect family companions. We prioritize responsible practices, conducting extensive health testing and using non-fading genetics from around the world. Our puppies come with a 2-year health guarantee, and families can enroll them in our training programs, supported by a team with over 100 years of combined experience.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies include tiny, mini, medium, and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include chocolate merle, brown, tri-color, and blue merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

We had a wonderful experience throughout the entire process of bringing home our new puppy. From the beginning, DHDs were incredibly responsive, friendly, and helpful, and always quick to answer any questions we had. They provided thorough and helpful documentation that made us feel informed every step of the way. Most importantly, our puppy is healthy, happy, and clearly well cared for. You can tell they truly care about their dogs and the families they are going to. We are so thankful for such a positive experience and would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a puppy!

Elyzza and her team were amazing to work with and we couldn’t be happier with the newest addition to our family. They were very responsive and helped us through every step of the way. They have continued to be responsive and answer any questions that we might have even since coming home, and they have checked in multiple times to see how she is doing. Our vet even said they were very impressed with Down Home Doodle and don’t often see this level of quality and care from most breeders. Zuri (formerly Jane) has been a joy to have in our home. She is playful and goofy, but also cuddly and laid back. She loves all the attention she can get whether that be from people or other dogs. We couldn’t have asked for a better puppy and we are super grateful for Down Home Doodle for making this dream a reality!

Elyzza and the entire team I had the chance to work with at Down Home Doodle was incredible. All my questions were answered with quickness and complete transparency. When me and my husband went to pick Fern up, we were greeted by Elyzza, Samantha and their wonderful family making us feel incredibly comfortable. You can absolutely tell that Fern was loved and taken care of, she has the sweetest personality and due to the socialization program she loves all people and wants to play with all dogs she meets! I cannot recommend Down Home Doodle enough for their love and care not only for their puppies, but their care of the families they end up with. We are so in love with Phoebe (previously Fern) she is the best girl! Thank you so much Elyzza, Emily and Samantha!

My experience was fantastic. Communication was present and quick. Lots of resources available as well. They really make sure you understand the process - we did the transportation route and everything went smoothly. We are so happy with our bundle of joy. I am really glad we went through them as our breeder, you can tell a lot is invested in their pups. My veterinarian was also really pleased with everything that had already been done and felt they go above and beyond and I’d have to agree. Thank you again for our newest family member, Atlas.

We had a great experience with Down Home Doodle. Our little guy has kept us on our toes, but he keeps us laughing with his antics. Elyzza and team were great to work with: super communicative, hold comprehensive knowledge of bernedoodles, were very professional in correspondence, and gave us such detailed take-home instructions, including vaccination records, shampoo, collar/leash, bath towel, a small bag of food to get us started, and more. The team is so thoughtful down to every detail. We couldn't recommend this breeder more!
