With a strong focus on the health and disposition of each bernedoodle, Elyzza has trained hundreds of dogs through their Down Home Academy, transforming them into loving therapy animals and well-behaved companions.

Q. & A. with Elyzza

  • Why did you start breeding?

My journey into dog breeding began with a lifelong love for animals, inspired by my close bond with my mother. We saw a need for well-bred, family-oriented dogs and decided to make our passion a reality. I immersed myself in learning about genetics and health standards, leading to the founding of Down Home Doodle, where I focus on connecting families with the perfect canine companions.
  • What makes your program special?

Down Home Doodle is dedicated to breeding exceptional bernedoodles that are perfect family companions. We prioritize responsible practices, conducting extensive health testing and using non-fading genetics from around the world. Our puppies come with a 2-year health guarantee, and families can enroll them in our training programs, supported by a team with over 100 years of combined experience.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies include tiny, mini, medium, and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include chocolate merle, brown, tri-color, and blue merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

Elyzza was so understanding and responded in a Timely manner when needed. When it came time to pick up sweet Oakley (cobra) scheduling a time a place with there travel nanny was so smooth. The nanny communicated every detail and went better than I could’ve ever imagined. Highly recommend Down Home Doodle for your next puppy!

Elyzza and her team were amazing to work with and we couldn’t be happier with the newest addition to our family. They were very responsive and helped us through every step of the way. They have continued to be responsive and answer any questions that we might have even since coming home, and they have checked in multiple times to see how she is doing. Our vet even said they were very impressed with Down Home Doodle and don’t often see this level of quality and care from most breeders. Zuri (formerly Jane) has been a joy to have in our home. She is playful and goofy, but also cuddly and laid back. She loves all the attention she can get whether that be from people or other dogs. We couldn’t have asked for a better puppy and we are super grateful for Down Home Doodle for making this dream a reality!

My mom, family friend, and myself each adopted a puppy from Down Home Doodle together. Right from the beginning, the team was so responsive and helpful in answering all the questions we had. They sent tons of photos, videos, and updates on each dog before they came home to us and helped arrange a transport that brought them right to our front door. Maybe the most impressive part is the at home bag they provided with food, ear care, dewormer, and detailed guides to integrating your puppy. It’s clear how much they care for every dog’s well-being. Even after two weeks, the team has stayed connected to ask if we need any support. We would recommend Down Home Doodle to anyone looking to bring a sweet new family member home!

My experience was fantastic. Communication was present and quick. Lots of resources available as well. They really make sure you understand the process - we did the transportation route and everything went smoothly. We are so happy with our bundle of joy. I am really glad we went through them as our breeder, you can tell a lot is invested in their pups. My veterinarian was also really pleased with everything that had already been done and felt they go above and beyond and I’d have to agree. Thank you again for our newest family member, Atlas.

We had a great experience with Down Home Doodle. Our little guy has kept us on our toes, but he keeps us laughing with his antics. Elyzza and team were great to work with: super communicative, hold comprehensive knowledge of bernedoodles, were very professional in correspondence, and gave us such detailed take-home instructions, including vaccination records, shampoo, collar/leash, bath towel, a small bag of food to get us started, and more. The team is so thoughtful down to every detail. We couldn't recommend this breeder more!

I had a wonderful experience with our Bernedoodle breeder and couldn’t be happier with the process of bringing Ellie home. From the very beginning, she kept me updated and informed while we were waiting for Ellie. She was always willing to answer my questions and made the entire experience feel personal and supportive. She was also incredibly accommodating and arranged for us to pick Ellie up the day after Christmas, which meant so much to our family. Even after we brought Ellie home, she remained responsive and helpful. When I had a few concerns before I could get Ellie in to see our vet, she replied quickly and reassured me. It’s clear she truly cares about the puppies she raises and the families they go to. I’m so grateful for the care, communication, and dedication she showed throughout the process. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a Bernedoodle!
