I'm Cheryl S., the breeder behind Dreamworks Havanese located in Maryville, MO. My breeding program starts with raising very healthy dogs. I stress the importance of proper socialization, breed to the AKC standard and start with beautiful, quality, healthy parents who have no health issues and superb personalities to pass on all these valuable traits to their puppies. I believe in the whole dog, not just parts. I think personality is the most important after health. Our puppies have it all! Looks, and personality. We don't play DNA roulette. Selective breeding takes time and we don't just accidently end up with good temperament and wonderful color genetics My dogs have been screened for health issues and are very good with children, other small pets, other dogs and other people; not just my family. If the parents are not confident, happy and secure their puppies may never be either.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I raised horses, goats and many farm animals. After having a pet Havanese, I decided to raise a litter and soon it became my passion.

  • What makes your program special?

    I strive for correct structure, temperament and health. Not just to throw two dogs together and sell puppies. They must represent everything good about the breed.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include cream, red, chocolate, black, red brindle, and red sable. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

    On May 11th last year I met Cheryl on the shoulder of Interstate 29. She was on her way to meet me with "Desi" but got a flat tire. She handed me the puppy and said to me “he sure loves people.” Well, we renamed him Wilson. I am writing to you to tell you about Wilson and the puppy you raised and sold to us. I am only doing this because we could not be happier. Wilson is an amazing dog. He loves all people, all children, all dogs. He is fearlessly friendly to all, and is the kindest and sweetest thing you can imagine. He has become well known in the neighborhood. Everyone loves Wilson. People bring out their children and pets to meet and play with him. I am stopped in the grocery store by people I don’t recognize who ask me how Wilson is. Cars stop at intersections, roll down their windows and yell out “Hi Wilson!!” It is unbelievable. He is well behaved, loving, cute as can be, affectionate, and basically everything you could ever want from a pet dog. He almost never barks and is fun-loving, playful, and yet warm and cuddly. I just wanted to take a bit of time to thank you for providing us with the best pet we could ever have hoped for. Thank you!!
