Meet the breeder

I'm Kristi S., the breeder behind Early Bird Kennels located in Woodstock, GA. All dogs are vaccinated as appropriate for their age. I follow recommended schedules and will provide documentation of all health checks, and vaccinations. I like to get to know my potential customers. I can better fit a puppy to your needs if I know a bit about your family dynamics. All of my Cotons and Dutchies live in our home with us. The puppies are raised in my bedroom, until they are big enough to run around the house. We dearly love all of them and are sad to see them go, but thrilled that I have such wonderful people to take them to their new homes. I enjoy talking to people who love dogs as much as I do. Please contact me at any time for any reason. I will be available for consultation before, after and during your dogs life.

Breeder-Reported Testing

Good level

Early Bird Kennels reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Cotons de Tulear.

  • Patellar Luxation

Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Legg-Calve-Perthes (OFA)

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Primary Hyperoxaluria, Hyperuricosuria (HUU), DNA Disease Panel, Multifocal Retinopathy 1 (CMR1), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), von Willebrand Disease I (vWD I)

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
