I'm Deborah M., the breeder behind Emeraldoaks German Shepherds located in Hampstead, MD. Our goal is to provide you with a companion that will be with your family for years or working partner. I purchase daughters of VA1 sires and breed to VA sires. The pedigrees of each of our breeding stock reflects the seriousness of our breeding program. There is performance achievement in both AKC and/or Schutzhund.

Deborah has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

“The price includes first shots, microchip, registration. Hip & Elbow Warranty – X-ray films (Hip Preliminary) of the dog’s hips, showing proper positioning and meeting OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) Standards, must be submitted to OFA for Preliminary evaluation at the owner’s expense at the age of 11-12 months. If OFA Evaluation of the dog shows evidence of Hip Dysplasia prior to one year of age, the Seller retains the right to have veterinarian of their choice do additional x-rays to be submitted to OFA at up to 26 months of age. If those results show moderate or extreme hip dysplasia exists: a. The Buyer will provide proof of spay/neuter of the originally purchase dog/puppy. The Seller will replace the dog/puppy (with Limited Registration) from the next available litter (not necessarily of original breeding and of equal value) or refund $500.00 of the purchase price of the dog/puppy. b. The Seller will only replace one dog/puppy from the original dog purchase in the original owner(s) name on this contract. . All puppies are same price.”

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Dentition, Temperament Test
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
