I'm Lisa S., the breeder behind Esplendor Havanese located in Danville, IN. Our dams and sires are bred to be healthy, playful and devoted and produce pups just like them! We are a small AKC breeder focused on each individual dog and puppy and their needs. We take pride in the time and dedication we give to every litter. Each litter is raised in our home & potty trained.
Q. & A. with Lisa
Why did you start breeding?
My husband and his family began breeding in the 1950's with German Shepherds. They were the number 1 kennel in the country for many years. We began to look for a breed our kids could show, and we did a lot of research before we bought our first Havanese. We love these little clowns, they are smart and truly loving. Raising a Hav puppy is not easy. They are born at 6 ounces and grow very quickly.
What makes your program special?
We have been breeding since 2006. We find the healthiest Havvies we can and run their DNA profile to make sure you end up with healthy puppies. We hand raise them with love and attention. Our girl gets the best food to give her pups a great start. She gets lamb, duck, kibble, supplements, & NuVet vitamins to keep her healthy. We submit OFA tests for eyes/heart/HipsLCP/(and BAER where available)
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and white, cream, gold, and red sable. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

We are potty training! She’s doing so well, she is so smart! When our pups go home they are paper trained , outdoor trained weather permitting, and on a schedule . She will know commands “come, stay, off, pee on the paper, no bark, and others. We raise smart, engaged purebred Havanese that go home with solid potty training that you enforce. A dog with rules is a happy dog!

Esendors Sweet confection is doing really well. She’s a doll with silky beautiful hair and her markings are chocolate and white. She’s simply stunning. She is outgoing and spicy, and then sweet and cuddly. she knows what she wants and of course since she is an only child, she is very spoiled.

Our new little peanut. She’s a beautiful chocolate and striking white parti Havanese. She was Born Dec 7th which would have her ready to go mid to late February. She’s special. Reina had two birth, one live. She still looks for baby angel. Havanese are excellent moms and are intelligent. They pass that on to each puppy, though singletons get all of our attention and training! I doubt I will have another chocolate, so if you need a healthy, beautiful, bundle of love, contact us!

This cute little boy is SO smart! He already asks to go outside and if that’s not an option he will use the potty pad. He is darling, feisty and has a take charge attitude. As an only pup, all three moms have taken him to heel, are teaching him his place in the pack and watching him closely when he’s outside. I haven’t had a pup this easy to train, but he is very extra Velcro. He wants to be where you are all of the time. He’s a beautifully marked little boy with four white paws a white blaze on his chest and a white tip on his tail! He also has the cutest mustache! I’m looking for the right home for Christmas. We do special things with our Christmas babies.

Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Good level
Esplendor Havanese reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Havanese.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
